Sateri Continues to Improve on Transparency with the Release of its Second Sustainability Report

Sateri, a global leading producer of viscose for textile and personal hygiene products, releases its second Sustainability Report which outlines the Group’s long term approach to sustainability, as well as details environmental and social performance of its viscose and yarn operations in 2017.

This report also demonstrates our continual commitment to transparency and accountability with increased scope of reporting and information disclosure.

Our report is guided by the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), a well-recognised framework for reporting an organisations’s economic, environmental and social performance. It has been assured by an independent third-party to be in accordance with the GRI Standards: CORE Option.

Key achievements and milestones in 2017 include:

  • Updating our Pulp Sourcing Policy
  • Increasing uptake of certified/responsibly sourced raw material (dissolving woodpulp) by 20%, compared to 2016
  • Achieving the Sustainable Textile Production (STeP) certification for responsible manufacturing of viscose staple fibre*
  • Achieving zero fatality in our mills
  • Co-founding Collaboration for Sustainable Development of Viscose (CV), a platform to promote and drive sustainable development of viscose industry

*Sateri’s viscose mill in Fujian achieved STeP by OEKO TEX® in 2017; the remaining two mills in Jiangxi achieved certification in 2018.

Sateri Releases its First Sustainability Report

Sateri is committed to sustainability, responsible sourcing and responsible manufacturing as a leading producer of high-quality viscose.

Our first sustainability report – prepared according to Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards – states our philosophy and strategy and summarises our performance and practices in 2016.

The report also sets out ambitious goals for 2020 as Sateri constantly seeks to improve, promote positive changes along the entire value chain and reduce our use of finite resources, our emissions and our carbon footprint.
